| | Secure Internet Access Information
Dear Parents,
Our aim at Seashells Day Nursery is to give both the
children and their parents the best services possible. Therefore, we intend to
give you a service which is still in its infancy but is gradually becoming a
common everyday service throughout the world within the day care industry, this
is the Secure Internet Access.
This service allows the parents/carers to logon from home
and work (where applicable) and actually view their child whilst he/she is in
our care. This service gives:
Fully Secure Logon
 | On entering the website, the parent/carer will be asked for a Logon and
Password. If the incorrect logon and password are entered, NO access will be
given to the site. It is your responsibility to make sure that only you
control who uses the login details; under NO circumstances should logon
details be given out to anybody other than immediate family. |
Passwords
| Passwords will be changed once a week (Monday) and will be given ONLY to
the parents/carers of the children in our care. No password will be given to
any parent who does not give his/her consent. |
Extra Security
| Also built into the 'special' software that we use is the
ability to track anybody who illegally attempts to enter the site. If we do
see someone attempting access, their PC number (every time you logon to the
internet, a unique number or IP address is given to
your PC) is logged and can easily be barred from entering the site. |
Cost
| There will be NO extra cost for this service. |
General Information
How does it work?
| We will be utilising the current camera system (CCTV)
within the nursery (which can be viewed in the reception area) and this will
be broadcasted through our 'special' software. |
Speed of connection
|
This depends on what type of modem you are using at home or
at work. Ideally, a broadband connection will give you a the best picture/frame
rate but you can also connect with a standard 56k modem and get great pictures.

Firewalls
If you intend to use this service at your workplace, it
would be advisable to contact your network administrator to confirm that the
firewall will allow streamed video.
Broadcasting Times
Monday - Thursday 09.00am - 5.00pm
Friday - 09.00am - 4.30pm
Maintenance
|
From time to time you may find you cannot logon to our
server. This will be down to general maintenance e.g. Camera upgrade etc. I will
inform you via this web page on any planned 'downtime'.

New Cameras
|
New colour digital cameras have now been installed in the
Pre -school and Toddler rooms.

I myself, with over 20 years experience in the IT industry
(including Internet Banking), will be happy to discuss this service as well as
any other computer services which we will gradually bring into the nursery. I
personally believe that young children should be given early experience with computers and our aim is to give
the children this before they move onto their respective schools. if you have
